As I was Saying

As I was saying, my mom wants to try "blogging."I was supposed to introduce her, but a five year old's attention span is only so big. I have known my mom for those same five years--what I have learned thus far is that she is much more pleasant to be around if she can exercise, read scriptures, and get showered before the "routines" or "non routines" start for the day. She is definitely "Right Brained" whatever that means.

She has not been good at all when it comes to reading bedtime stories, but she creates and tells a mean story while she scratches my back. Lately, I have been pleading for more stories about me, Da Vinci (our Great Dane) or "G.I. Joe." Some of the stories she even made into a book.
I love my mom.  She wrestles with me, jumps on the bed with me, builds snowmen with me,
trick or treats with me, teases me, (used to dance on the furniture with me--don't tell my dad) and even reaches her limit with me. We have done Gymboree Music, Art, and Playtime. Then there was "Baby Signs" and swimming lessons too. My mom still loves to plaster me with kisses, but I think I am getting a bit too old for that.

One thing my mom and I share in common is our "gift for gab." We love people and have a genuine interest in them. Sometimes her "saying too much" gets her into trouble. I wouldn't call her a gossip or a "know it all." She must be smart though because she graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Science, got her Masters Degree from Westminster of Salt Lake City, and married my dad.

Speaking of my dad, he didn't come into the picture until mom was a ripe old age of 34. They were married in the Sweden Temple so that my grandparents could attend. Grandpa and Grandma were the Mission President and Mission Mother of the Brussels Belgium Mission. I think that is Way Cool!!!!

I came into the family about 5 years into their marriage.

Since then, they believe their life is all the richer. I have to keep them in line sometimes, but they are more than worth it. We are an eternal family on the road of progression. Sometimes it is hard, but we are not giving up. My Great Grandfather Hart was a Mission President in France. Each missionary received A Limoge Plate made special for a keepsake bearing the theme "This Ship Shall Never Sink." My mom inherited one and it is placed in our kitchen as our family motto.

Here she is, my mom, Rebecca Hart Groendyke.
